Deck Staining No warranty
- - The Trex Foggy Wharf deck shows deep stains from wet leaves after three years, despite claims of low maintenance; Trex declined responsibility.
To anyone considering Trex Foggy Wharf decking,
I'm writing this because I wish someone had warned me before I spent thousands of dollars on Trex Foggy Wharf composite decking. My deck is only three years old, and it already looks far older due to permanent stains caused simply by wet leaves, something every outdoor deck will encounter.
Trex advertises this product as low maintenance, fade and stain resistant, and built to withstand the outdoors. Yet when the deck developed deep, blotchy stains from normal leaf fall, Trex refused to take responsibility. Their explanation was that the stains were caused by environmental factors, which is just another way of saying they won't stand behind their product when it's actually used outdoors.
Let's be clear:
A deck that can't handle leaves is not an outdoor decking product.
And a company that hides behind warranty loopholes instead of supporting customers is not a company you want to invest in.

- - White spotting on Trex Transcend after years; cleaning won't remove.
- - Trex offered 25% settlement; warranty excludes cosmetic issues.
We used Trex Transcend on our deck. We really liked the idea of a material that didn't require a lot of maintenance.
No fuss, no muss! Much better than wood. Except after a couple of years, it developed this nasty white spotting on the surface, which is visible when dry. No amount of cleaning gets it off!
Calling Trex, they said it's not structural, so it's not covered by warranty. But they said they'll be good people and pay us 25%. First, you install Trex because it looks good, not just as a structural material. So yes, absolutely, the degrading of the aesthetic is a defect.
Secondly, trying to buy someone off for 25% is insulting. We thought for sure they would replace the material since it is defective. But nope. So my advice: stay far, far away from Trex.

This is on a covered deck, by the way. No direct exposure to the elements.

- - Original lights were inferior and never worked.
- - They do not honor the lifetime warranty.
- - Stair lights have failed and pose a safety risk.
Although they now admit that they had to change their lighting system, when i purchased my deck 3 years ago their lights were inferior. None of mine ever worked properly.
I have been dealing with them, my contractor and NJ rep, to no avail. Their customer service manager Todd Reigel is an absolute no help guy. Disgraceful that such a successful company doesn't honor their lifetime warranty.
What a joke, I have even called the CEO Bryan H Fairbanks with no response. I am going to become relentless in my quest to have this problem remedied as now the lights on my stairs went out which poses a risk.
User's recommendation: make sure you use a different lighting system than the junk they sold me. I think they do not honor their warranties at all as well.

Refusal to honor sale prices
- - Ordered 2 chaise lounge sets for the pool area; individual loungers went on sale, Trex won't adjust, costing hundreds; items not yet received.
FYI. Use your judgment when ordering.
We just ordered multiple pieces for our pool area. After we ordered, some of the items went on sale. We ordered 2 chaise lounge sets (each set comes with 2 chaise lounges and a table). After ordering, the individual chaise lounges went on sale.
Trex is refusing to make an adjustment as the individual loungers are on sale versus the set. Therefore, purchasing their sets is now costing us several hundred dollars more than if we bought the items individually.
We do not even have the ordered items yet. Very disappointing

My trex deck gets fire hot

How to clean deck when white substance is on the deck from where a plant sat

I had to give my phone number and email number, and then answer a question about why I was calling which was how to clean a Trex deck where there is a white substance from where a plant had been sitting.. - - Fascia boards warped after Wisconsin winter, screws pulled out.

In Wisconsin noticed warping of fascia boards after first winter...got really bad with some screws pulling out. Contractor reinstalled and same damm thing the following year.
Trex has no solution and frankly doesn't want to hear about it.
